HomeMy WebLinkAbout05648 ORD - 01/20/1960^y IMS:JKH:1 -15 -60 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21 -191, SUBSECTION (c) OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1950, BY ADDING THERETO SOUTH STAPLES STREET EAST SIDE OF THE 1600 BLOCK THE FIRST EIGHT PARKING SPACES NORTH OF ALAMEDA STREET. FOR THE INSTALLA- TION OF THIRTY - MINUTE PARKING METERS; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARS OF ORDNANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. • BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT SECTION 21 -131, SUBSECTION (C), OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO INCLUDE SOUTH STAPLES STREET, EAST SIDE OF THE 1600 BLOCK, THE FIRST EIGHT PARKING SPACES NORTH OF ALAMEDA STREET, FOR THE INSTALLATION OF 30- MINUTE PARKING METERS. SECTION 2. THAT ANY ORDINANCE INCONSISTENT WITH ANY OF THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE IS HEREBY REPEALED; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT SUCH REPEAL SHALL BE ONLY TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH INCONSISTENCY AND IN ALL OTHER RESPECTS THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE CUMULATIVE OF OTHER ORDINANCES REGULATING AND GOVERNING THE SUBJECT MATTER COVERED BY THIS ORDINANCE. SECTION 3. ANY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION, WHO SHALL VIOLATE ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE ORDINANCE SHALL, UPON CONVICTION, BE DEEMED GUILTY OF AN OFFENSE AND FINED NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED ($200.00) DOLLARS. ANY PERSON WHO SHALL AID, ABET OR ASSIST IN THE VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVI- SIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE GUILTY OF AN OFFENSE AND SHALL BE FINED NOT EXCEEDING TWO HUNDRED ($200.00) DOLLARS. SECTION 4. THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PUBLICATION ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION STATING IN SUMMARY THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE AND THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. SECTION 5. THE FACT THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE HEALTH, COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO LIMIT PARKING ON THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF CORPUSCHRISTI CREATES A PUBLIC EMER- GENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE 5643 CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXISTS AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND'WKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS THE_ O DAY OF JANUARYS 1960.
