K RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING HARVEY WEIL AND GEORGE D. TRADER
TO EXECUTE APPLICATIONS FOR AND DOCUMENTS
,CO rERNING THE HANDLING OF FUNDS FROM A FEDERAL
GRANT FOR THE MANSION OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL;
D DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. ,_
WHEREAS, REQUEST HAS BEEN MADE FOR THE DESIGNATION OF SPECI-
FIC INDIVIDUALS TO SIGN DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE APPLICATION AND
HANDLING OF FUNDS DERIVED FROM A FEDERAL GRANT TO BE USED IN THE
EXPANSION OF MEMORIAL HOSPITALS AND
WHEREAS, HARVEY WEIL IS CHAIRMAN OF THE HOSPITAL BOARD AND
GEORGE D. TRADER IS ADMINISTRATOR OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AND IT IS THE
DESIRE OF THE COUNCIL TO APPOINT SAID INDIVIDUALS TO MAKE SAID APPLI-
CATION AND EXECUTE SUCH OTHER DOCUMENTS AS ARE NECESSARY FOR THE
HANDLING OF THE SAID FUNDS:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI'S TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT HARVEY WEIL AND GEORGE D. TRADER BE AND THE
SAME ARE HEREBY APPOINTED AND DESIGNATED TO SIGN APPLICATIONS AND
DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE OBTAINING OF FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL GRANT
FOR THE EXPANSION OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY FOR IMMEDIATE APPOINTMENT AND DESIG-
NATION OF SAID INDIVIDUALS CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE
PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS
INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT
THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILS AND THE MAYORS HAVING
DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXISTS HAVING REQUESTED THE
SUSPENSION OF THE SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS RESOLUTION BE PASSED
FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT THIS RESOLUTION TAKE
EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS r4L- SAGES IT
IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROTHE�DAY OF 1960.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE' A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT 13 INTRODUCED AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL;
I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIRE-
MENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED OR AT THE
PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
