AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTION 21-131, SUBSECTION a ITEMS 1 AND
OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY _CODE9 , SO AS TO
ELIMINATE PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF CHAR L STREET
FOR 100 FEET NORTH AREA ADJACENT TO LICHTENSTEIN S,
INC. AND ON THE NORTH SID OF LAW ENCE STREET BETWEEN
CHAPARRAL STREET AND MESQUITE STREET BETWEEN THE HOURS
OF 9: A. M. 0 P. ., EXCEPT SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT SECTION 21 -131, SUBSECTION (A), ITEM 1, OF THE
CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO ELIMI-
NATE PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF CHAPARRAL STREET FOR 100 FEET NORTH THE
AREA ADJACENT TO LICHTENSTEIN'S, INC.), BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A. M. TO
6:00 P. M., EXCEPT SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS.
SECTION 2. THAT SECTION 21 -131, SUBSECTION (A), ITEM 5, OF THE
CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO
ELIMINATE PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF LAWRENCE STREET BETWEEN CHAPARRAL
STREET AND MESQUITE STREET, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A. M. TO 6:00 P. M.,
EXCEPT SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS.
SECTION 3. THAT ANY ORDINANCE INCONSISTENT WITH ANY OF THE TERMS
AND PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE IS HEREBY REPEALED; PROVIDED, HOWEVER,
THAT SUCH REPEAL SHALL BE ONLY TO THE EXTENT OF SUCH INCONSISTENCY AND IN
ALL OTHER RESPECTS THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE CUMULATIVE OF OTHER ORDINANCES
REGULATING AND GOVERNING THE SUBJECT MATTER COVERED BY THIS ORCINANCE.
SECTION 4. ANY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION, WHO SHALL VIOLATE
ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE ORDINANCE SHALL, UPON CONVICTION, BE DEEMED
GUILTY OF AN OFFENSE AND FINED NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED
($200.00) DOLLARS. ANY PERSON WHO SHALL AID, ABET OR ASSIST IN THE
VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE GUILTY OF
AN OFFENSE AND SHALL BE FINED NOT EXCEEDING TWO HUNDRED ($200.00) DOLLARS.
SECTION 5. THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM AND AFTER
ITS PUBLICATION ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF

CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION STATING IN
SUMMARY THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE AND THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION
THEREOF.
SECTION 6. THE FACT THATIT IS NECESSARY TO ELIMINATE THE
PARKING OF VEHICLES AT THE LOCATIONS ABOVE DESCRIBED, SINCE THE REMOVAL
OFPARKING METERS HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED, CREATES A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF
THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION
SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE
MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND
HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS
ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ONE THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE
EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED ANDAPPROVED, THIS THE f7 DAY of FEBRUARY,
196o.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL!
1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIRE-
MENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED OR AT THE
PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
