AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH P. K. GIFFIN GRANTING THE
RIGHTS OF CONCESSION AT THE H. E. BUTT PARK TO
THE SAID P. K. GIFFIN, SAID CONCESSION RIGHTS
BEGINNING MARCH 1, 1960, AND EXPIRING FEBRUARY
28, 1963, SUBJECT TO THE COVENANTS AND CONDITIONS
PROVIDED IN SAID CONTRACT, A COPY OF WHICH IS
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF;,AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER 1S HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT WITH P. K. GIFFIN, GRANTING THE RIGHTS OF CONCESSION AT THE
H. E. BUTT PARK, SAID CONCESSION RIGHTS BEGINNING MARCH 1, 1960, AND
EXPIRING FEBRUARY 28, 1963, SUBJECT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS SET
OUT IN THE CONTRACT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A
PART HEREOF.
SECTION 2. THAT THE NECESSITY FOR ENTERING INTO THE CONTRACT
DESCRIBED IN SECTION 1 HEREOF CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IM-
PERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE
THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF
ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ
AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING
DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, REQUESTING THAD SAID
CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED ON THE
DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND
EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND
APPROVED, THIS THE it DAY OF MARCH, 1960.
