HomeMy WebLinkAbout05756 ORD - 05/11/1960AH:4:25:60 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE #3656 ENTITLED "AN ORDI- NANCE ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRA- TION OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN" AS AMENDED, SO - AS TO PROVIDE FOR A PLAN OF COMPENSATION FOR MERIT FOR THE FIRE DIVISION AND POLICE DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT SUBSECTION (B) OF SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE #3656, AS AMENDED IS HEREBY AMENDED BY ADDING TO THE SCHEDULE OF FIRE AND POLICE SERIES, PUBLIC SAFETY GROUP, MONTHLY BASE SALARY SCHEDULE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 2. SUBSECTION (B) OF SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE #3656, AS AMENDED IS HEREBY AMENDED BY ADDING A NEW SECTION AS FOLLOWS: POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR ADVANCEMENT TO INTERMEDIATE STEPS IN ACCORDANCE WITH PARAGRAPH (9) OF SUBSECTION (B) OF SECTION 2 OF THIS ORDINANCE. (9) "IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE2 POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR ADVANCEMENT TO INTERMEDIATE STEPS AFTER COM- PLETION OF 18 MONTHS OF SERVICE AND PRESECRIBED TRAINING COURSES AS APPROVED BY THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD. THE INTERMEDIATE STEPS WILL BE FROM $2.00 TO $10.00 FOR SALARY GRADE A, STEP 3; FROM $2.00 TO $14.00 FOR SALARY GRADE B; AND FROM $2.00 TO $15.00 FOR SALARY GRADES C -J." SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE THE AMENDMENTS DESCRIBED ABOVE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILP AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE 1975G IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS THE / / DAY OF 1960.
