BOND FUND NO. 245 TO COVER THE COST OF SAID CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, ON JULY 6, 1960, BIDS WERE OPENED FOR THE LANDSCAPING OF THE NEW CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, AFTER DUE PUBLICATION AND NOTICE AS REQUIRED BY THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND WHEREAS, THE LOW BID WAS SUBMITTED BY THE CURRIE SEED COMPANY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $7969.00 TO FURNISH LABOR, MATERIALS AND PLANTS NECESSARY TO LANDSCAPE THE NEW CORPUS CHRISTI INTER- NATIONAL AIRPORT ACCORDING TO THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ATTACHED TO AND MADE A PART OF SAID BID; AND WHEREAS, IT HAS BEEN RECOMMENDED AND IT APPEARING UNTO THE COUNCIL THAT THE LOW BID OF THE CURRIE SEED COMPANY IS THE MOST ADVANTAGEOUS BID TO THE CITY, THE COUNCIL IS OF THE OPINION THAT THE AWARD OF THE LAND- SCAPING OF THE AIRPORT SHOULD BE MADE TO THE LOW BIDDER, CURRIE SEED COMPANY: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT THE CONTRACT TO FURNISH LABOR, MATERIALS AND PLANTS NECESSARY TO LANDSCAPE THE NEW CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IS HEREBY AWARDED TO THE CURRIE SEED COMPANY, THE LOW BIDDER, ACCORDING TO BIDS OPENED JULY 6, 1960, AND THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE CURRIE SEED COMPANY COVERING THE LANDSCAPING OF SAID AIR- PORT ACCORDING TO THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ATTACHED TO AND MADE A PART OF SAID BID. SECTION 2. THE SUM OF $7969.00 15 HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF AIRPORT BOND FUND ND. 245 TO COVER THE COST OF SAID LANDSCAPING, WHICH IS THE TOTAL CONSIDERATION FOR THE CONTRACT. SECTION 3. THE PUBLIC NECESSITY TO LANDSCAPE A PORTION OF THE NEW CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PRIOR TO THE OPENING DATE THEREOF, 5811 CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER PAS AGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS THE DAY OF 1960.
