AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS, CONTRACTORS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE HOLLY ROAD WAILK LINES PROJECT NO.
202 - 59-23; APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF 1, 733.00 FROM
NO. 202 WATERWORKS BOND CONSTRUCTION FUNDS, OF WHICH
AMOUNT $1,438,699.75 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
AND $33.25 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR BIDS; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A
CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS, CONTRACTORS, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
HOLLY ROAD WATER LINES, WHICH CONSTRUCTION CONSISTS OF APPROXIMATELY
57,345 FEET OF WATER LINES 48" TO 24° IN SIZE, VALVES, FITTINGS AND
STRUCTURES, ALONG HOLLY ROAD FROM DUMP ROAD TO OLD BROWNSVILLE ROAD,
THENCE NORTH TO AND ALONG LEXINGTON TO FORREST LANE WITH CONNECTING
LINES ON DUMP ROAD, EVERHART AND WEBER ROADS FROM LEXINGTON TO HOLLY,
BEING PROJECT N0. 202- 59 -23, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY
SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING
TO THE BID OF HELDENFELS BROTHERS, OPENED ON THE 13TH DAY OF JULY, 1960,
THE SAID BID OF HELDENFELS BROTHERS BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS
TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THAT THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF
$1,438,733.00 OUT OF N0. 202 WATERWORKS BOND CONSTRUCTION FUNDS, OF WHICH
AMOUNT $1,4381699.75 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $33.25 IS FOR
LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR BIDS.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY FOR PROMPT EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT
AND APPROPRIATION OF THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE WATER SYSTEM
AND SUPPLY FOR THE SOUTH PART OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI CREATES A
PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUS-
PENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED

FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL,
AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY 'AND NECESSITY TO EXIST,
HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS

ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT
THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER
ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS /)G DAY of

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FUR THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL;
I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIRE-
MENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED' OR AT THE
PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
