AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING_ AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SOUTH TEXAS LAWN SPRINKLER
COMPANY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A LAWN SPRINKLER
SYSTEM AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL A RP _ RT;
APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $12,610.0 FROM NO. 245
AIRPORT BOND FUND, OF WHICH AMOUNT ?11,445.00 IS
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $572.25 IS FOR
ENGINEERING DESIGN AND SUPERVISION BY REAGAN AND
McCAUGHAN, 572.25 IS FOR DETAIL INSPECTIONS AND
$20.50 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR BIDS, ALL
APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 245- 56 -8.1H; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SOUTH TEXAS LAWN SPRINKLER COMPANY FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF A LAWN SPRINKLER SYSTEM AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, SAID INSTALLATION TO CONSIST OF APPROXIMATELY
12,000 FEET OF 1/2" TO 2" PIPE AND 465 SPRINKLER HEADS, ALL AS MORE
FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON
FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A
PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF SOUTH TEXAS LAWN
SPRINKLER COMPANY, OPENED ON THE 14TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1960, THE SAID
BID OF SOUTH TEXAS LAWN SPRINKLER COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST
ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF ,?12,610.00
OUT OF N0. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND, OF WHICH AMOUNT $11,445,00 IS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, X572.25 IS FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN AND SUPERVISION
BY REAGAN AND MCCAUGHAN, $572.25 IS FOR DETAIL INSPECTIONS AND $20.50
IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR BIDS, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT N0.
245-56-8.11-1.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY FOR PROMPT EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT
AND APPROPRIATION OF THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO INSTALL A LAWN SPRINKLER
SYSTEM AT THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND

AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF.THE
CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
AND THE MAYORS HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO
EXISTS HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND
THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION
AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE IT I5 ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED,

SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILS
1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIRE-
MENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE
