EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, AN ACCEPTANCE
OF AN 0 FEfP OF THE TEXAS_HIGFfiVAY DEPARTMENT TO PERMIT
THE Cl F 1 .TFB ACRE TRACT OUT OF THE EAST
1/2 OF THE WEST 112 OF FARM BLOCK OF J. C. RUSSELL
FARM BLOCE3_FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING ON AND
USING SAID LAND AS A GAEBAGE SANITARY LAND FILL AREA

N0. 8 PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON
JULY 20, 1g6o; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHR ISTI,
AN ACCEPTANCE OF AN OFFER OF THE TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO PERMIT THE
CITY'S USE OF 13.189 ACRE TRACT OUT OF THE EAST 1/2 OF THE WEST 1/2
OF FARM BLOCK 7 OF J. C. RUSSELL FARM BLOCKS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ESTABLISHING ON AND USING SAID LAND AS A GARBAGE SANITARY LAND FILL
AREA FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) YEARS.
SECTION 2. THAT ORDINANCE N0. 581.6, PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON JULY 20, 1960,15 HEREBY REPEALED IN ITS
ENTIRETY.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO IMMEDIATELY ACCEPT THE OFFER
OF THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO THE CITY OF THE USE OF LAND
ABOVE DESCRIBED FOR SANITARY LANDFILL PURPOSES CREATES A PUBLIC EMER-
GENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION
OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED
FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ.AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY
TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND
THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED THIS
