AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH PRICE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY,
SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS, U. S.
ARMY, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS AND IMPROVE -
MENTS FOR THE NEW JOINT RAILROAD YAR4 DESIGNATED AS
PROJECT NO. 230- 55- 8.8 -4, AS A PART OF THE BRIDGE
REMOVAL AND RELOCATION PROJECT; APPROPRIATING FROM
NO. 230 BRIDGE BOND FUND THE SUM OF 161,287.50, OF
WHICH AMOUNT x$60,714.12 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT, .551.00 Is FOR ENGINEERING AND DESIGN BY
CITY FORCES AND $22.38 IS FOR LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR
BIDS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. -
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZEO AND
DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
A CONTRACT WITH PRICE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVAL
BY THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS, U. S. ARMY, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BUILD-
INGS AND IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE NEW JOINT RAILROAD YARD NEAR HIGHWAY 44
AND LEXINGTON BOULEVARD AND ADJACENT TO TEX-MEX TRACKS, ALL AS MORE
FULLY SET OUT IN TIE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON
FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A
PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF PRICE
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, OPENED ON THE 19TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1960, THE
SAID BID OF PRICE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST
ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF
$61,287.50 OUT OF NO. 230 BRIDGE BOND FUND, OF WHICH AMOUNT
x;60,714.12 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, :;551.00 IS FOR
ENGINEERING AND DESIGN BY CITY FORCES AND $22.38 IS FOR LEGAL
ADVERT15ING FOR BIDS.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO CONSTRUCT CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS
FOR THE JOINT RAILROAD YARD, PER PRIMARY RAILROAD AGREEMENT, TO PROVIDE
RAILROAD FACILITIES AT THE NEW JOINT RAILROAD YARD CREATES A PUBLIC
EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUT.RING THE SUSPENSION
OF THECHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED
FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR

RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY
TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE SAID CHARTER RULE
AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AMD
EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASS E,C IT 15 ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND

TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
