SO AS TO AMEND THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE 1953 -511, REVISED, AS TO SECTION 304.2 THEREOF, BY ADDING,_A NEW PARAGRAPH TO SAID BUILDING CODE, SAID NEW PARAGRAPH TO BE DESIGNATED AS ITEM 24. OF SECTION 11 -5, CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, WHICH AMENDMENT IS TO THE EFFECT THA C THERE SHALL BE AN EXCEPTION AS TO GROUP "B" BUSINESS 8`01LDINGS NOT R ONE STORY IN HEIGHT AND NOT EXCEEDING_ 1000 SQUARE FEET FLOOR AREA OF TYPE VI WOOD FRAME CONSTRUC- TION PROVIDED THAT THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR WALL COVERING BE OF AN APPROVED FIRE- PESISTIVE MATERIALA AND THAT NO WALL_BE LESS THAN EIGHT FEET FROM ANY INTERIOR LOT LINE OR SIXTEEN FEET FROM ANY OTHER BUILDINGS _OF_ O0D FRAME CONSTRUCTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. THAT THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, BE AMENDED SO AS TO AMEND THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1953 -54, REVISED, AS TO SECTION 3011.2 THEREOF, BY ADDING A NEW PARAGRAPH TO SAID BUILDING CODE, SAID NEW SUBPARAGRAPH ITEM 24 TO READ AS FOLLOWS: "24. SUBSECTION 304.2 SHALL BE AND IS HEREBY AMENDED BY ADDING ITEM 9 READING AS FOLLOWS: 19. GROUP B BUSINESS (BUILDINGS NOT OVER ONE -STORY IN HEIGHT AND NOT EXCEEDING ONE THOUSAND (1,000) SQ. FT. IN FLOOR AREA) MAY BE OF TYPE VI WOOD FRAME CONSTRUCTION, PRO- VIDED THAT THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR WALL COVERING BE OF AN APPROVED FIRE - RESISTIVE MATERIAL, AND THAT NO WALL BE LESS THAN EIGHT (8) FEET FROM ANY INTERIOR LOT LINE, OR SIXTEEN (16) FEET.FROM ANY OTHER BUILDINGS OF WOOD FRAME CONSTRUCT ION. ��t SECTION 2. THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE FOREGOING PROVISION SHALL BE THE SAME AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 11 -6, CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958 SECTION 3. THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PUBLICATION ONE TIME IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION STATING IN SUMMARY THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE AND THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. SECTION 4. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE THE AMENDMENT AS DESCRIBED HEREINABOVE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECES- SITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND 1FAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ", AND THE I�9AYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE A PUBIiATION, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS aAY of r 1 , 1960.
