AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH SOUTH TEXAS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF WEBER ROAD .IMPROVEMENTS; APPROP-

PROJECT NO. 220- 56 -25, AND $44,000.00 IS FROM NO.
295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT
NO. 295- 53 -29, WEBER ROAD STORM SEWER UNIT II,
THE COMBINED AMOUNTS REPRESENTING COSTS AS FOLLOWS:
CONSTRUCTION OF CITY PORTION OF WORK (AFTER ASSESS-
MENTS) $231,3$9.47; LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR BIDS $20.53;
ADJUSTING TRAFFIC SIGNALS $865.00; LABORATORY TESTING
x;4,800.00; ENGINEERING BY CITY FORCES $4,000.00; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SOUTH TEXAS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF WEBER ROAD IMPROVEMENTS, SAID CONSTRUCTION TO CONSIST
OF WIDENING STREET, PAVING, CURB AND GUTTERS, SIDEWALKS AND STORM
SEWERS ON WEBER ROAD BETWEEN STAPLES AND LEXINGTON IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS, SPECI-
FICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY
SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND AC-
CORDING TO THE BID OF SOUTH TEXAS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, OPENED ON THE
23RD DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1960, THE SAID BID OF SOUTH TEXAS CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED FROM NO. 220 STREET
BOND FUND THE SUM OF $197,075 APPLICABLE TO PROJECT N0. 220- 56 -25, AND
$44,000 FROM N0. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND APPLICABLE TO PROJECT ND.
295- 53 -29, WEBER ROAD STORM SEWER UNIT II, THE COMBINED AMOUNTS
REPRESENTING COSTS AS FOLLOWS: CONSTRUCTION OF CITY PORTION OF WORK
(AFTER ASSESSMENTS), $231,389.47; LEGAL ADVERTISING FOR BIIDS, $20.53;
ADJUSTING TRAFFIC SIGNALS, x865.00; LABORATORY TESTING, $4,8OO.00;
ENGINEERING BY CITY FORCES, *4,000.00.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE THE AFORESAID IMPROVEMENTS
TO PROVIDE FOR .FUTURE TRAFFIC GROWTH AND IMPROVE DRAINAGE IN THE
AREA CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY
REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALT. BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION
AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTUON SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL
MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR2 HAVING DECLARED SUCH
EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF
SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE
OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL
FORCE AND EFFECT FROM) ®AND AFTER IT P GE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED

SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL;
1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIRE-
MENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE
