CHRISTI, TEXAS, CALL33G AN ELECTION ON THE
QUESTION OF THE ISSUANCE OF THE FOLLOW33G
BONDS: $1,36o,0oo.00 WESTSI3)E SEWER SYSTEM
IMPROVEMENT BONDS; $3,305,000.00 SOUTH STAPLES
AND OSO SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT BONDS;
$1,720,000.00 STORM SEWER BONDS, $195,000.00
LIBRARY BONDS AND $775,000.00 STREET 13 wn-
MENT BONDS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
1. That an election be held in said City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, on the 28th day of January, 1961, at which election the
following propositions shall be submitted to the resident, qualified
electors of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, who own taxable property
in said City and who have duly rendered the same for taxation:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
"Shall the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said
City in the amount of $1,360,000.00, maturing serially in
such installments as the City Council may prescribe, the
maximum maturity being not more than Thirty Five (35) years
from their date, bearing interest at a rate not to exceed
Five (5 %) per cent per annum, and to levy a tax on all tax-
able property within said City sufficient to pay the annual
Interest and provide a oinking fund to pay the bonds at
maturity, for the purpose of constructing a westside sewer
trunk main and laterals and other general sewer system im-
provements, as authorized by the Constitution and laws of
the State of Texas, and the Charter of said City."
PROPOSITION NO. 2
"Shall the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said
City in the amount of $3,305,000-00, ma'u'l aerially in
such installments as the City Council may prescribe, the
maxim= maturity being not more than Thirty Five (35) years
from their date, bearing interest at a rate not to exceed
Five (5 %) per cent per annum, and to levy a tax on all tax-
able property within said City sufficient to pay the annual
interest and provide a oinking fund to pay the bonds at
maturity, for the purpose of constructing a sewer relief
line in the South Staples Street area, providing funds
for rehabilitating and expanding Oso sewer plant and
other general sewer system improvements, as authorized
by the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas, and
the Charter of said City."
PROPOSITION NO. 3
"Sha31 the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said
City in the amount of $1,720,000.00, maturing serially in

such installments as the City Council may prescribe, the
maximum maturity being not more than Thirty Five (35) Years
from their date, bearing interest at a rate not to exceed
Five (5 %) per cent per annum, and to levy a tax on all tax-
able property within said City sufficient to pay the annual
interest and provide a sinking fund to pay the bonds at
maturity, for the purpose of const7meting storm sewer im-
provements in the City, including such improvements in the
area of Whelan Dive, sections of Gollihar Road and Green-
wood Drive, Thompson Road, McBride Lane, Cliff Maus Airport
Area, sections of McArdle Road and Westport area between
Morgan Street and Greenwood Drive, as authorized by the
Constitution and laws of the State of Texas, and the
Charter of said City."
PROPOSITION N0. 4
"Shell the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said
City in the amount of $195,000.00, maturing aerially in
such Installments as the City Council may prescribe, the
maximum maturity being not more than Thirty Five (35) Years
from their date, bearing interest at a rate not to exceed
Five (5%) per cent per annum, and to levy a tax on all tax-
able property within said City sufficient to pay the annual
Interest and provide a sinking fund to pay the bonds at
maturity, for the purpose of constructing and equipping a
branch library for the City, as authorized by the Consti-
tution and laws of the State of Texas, and the Charter of
said City."
PROPOSITION NO. 5
"Shall the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said
City in the amount of $775,000.00, maturing serially in
such installments as the City Council may prescribe, the
maximum maturity being not more than Thirty Five (35) years
from their date, bearing interest at a rate not to exceed
Five (5 %) per cent per annum, and to levy a tax on all tax-
able property within said City sufficient to pay the annual
interest and provide a sinking fund to pay the bonds at
maturity, for the purpose of constructing improvements to
the streets of the City, including improvements to Green-
wood Drive, Santa Fe Street, Everhart Road and North
Staples Street, as authorized by the Constitution and laws
of the State of Texas, and the Charter of said City."
2. That voting machines shall be employed at the
election herein ordered in accordance with the provisions of V. A. T. S.
Election Code, Article 7.14, and said election shall be held at the poll-
ing places in the regularly prescribed voting precincts of the City of
Corpus Christi, such voting precincts, polling places, and the officers
hereby appointed to conduct the election thereat being as follows:

3. That said election shall be held in accordance with
the provisions of Chapter 1, Title 22 of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas,
1925, as amended, including the provisions of Article 704, as amended by
Chapter 382, passed at the First Called Session of the 44th Legislature,
and the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and only legally
qualified electors who own taxable property in the City and who have duly
rendered the same for taxation shall be qualified to vote.
4. The ballots for said election shall have written
or printed thereon the following:

5. A substantial copy of this ordinance signed by the
Mayor of said City and attested by the City Secretary shall serve as proper
notice of said election. Notice shall be given in accordance with Article
704, Revised Civil Statutes of 1925, as amended. The Mayor is authorized
and directed to have a copy of'said notice posted at the City Hall in said
City and at each of the voting places in said City, not less than fifteen
days prior to the date fixed for holding said election. He shall also '
cause said notice to be published on the same day in each of two success -

ive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published within said
City, the date of the first publication to be not less than fourteen days
prior to the date set for said election. Except as otherwise provided in
i
said Article 704, as amended, the manner of holding said election shall
be governed by the laws governing general elections.
6. That the public importance and the pressing need
for the permanent improvements to be constructed by use of the proceeds of
the sale of said bonds create an emergency and an imperative public neces-
sity requiring the suspension of rules and Charter provisions requiring
same to be considered and voted upon at three regular meetings, and such
facts require that this ordinance be
quir passed and take effect immediately
as an emergency measure, and such rules and provisions are hereby sus-
pended and this ordinance is passed and shall take effect as an emergency
measure, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 11th day of January,
1961.
