HomeMy WebLinkAbout06160 ORD - 05/31/1961i IMS :JKH:4 -Z5-o1 • • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THE UNIVERSITY OF CORPUS CHRISTJ, PROVIDING FOR THE ANNEXATION OF AN AREA CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT CITY I IMITS AND EXTENDING FROM A POINT ON THE EDGE OF CHRISTI BAY IN A STERLY D SOUTHWESTERL DIRECTION ALONG THE NORTH PORTION OF WARD ISLANDS ALL AS DESCRIBED IN THE AGREEMENT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF. 11;• WHEREAS, THE UNIVERSITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI IS NOW THE OWNER OF CERTAIN LANDS CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND COMPRISES ALL OF THAT AREA GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS WARD ISLAND IN NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, AND SAID UNIVERSITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI IS DESIROUS OF CONTRACTING WITH THE CITY TO ANNEX A PORTION OF SAID TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND WHEREAS, IN THE OPINION OF THE CITY COUNCILS IT IS DEEMED TO BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI THAT SAID PROPERTY BE ANNEXED AND AN AGREEMENT OF ANNEXATION HAS BEEN PREPARED TO BE EXECUTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI] NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1.
