THE CITY OF CORPUS CERISTI TEXAS AMENDING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUPER- VISION BY JOURNEYMEN BARBERS OF BARBER WORK PERFORMED IN BARBER COLLEGES BY STUDENT BAR- BERS, I M[ M THE NUMBER OF STUDENT BARBERS THAT JOURNEYMEN BARBERS SHALL SUPERVISE AT ONE TIME, AND AMENDING SUB - SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2612, ENACTED OCTOBER 10, 1949, AND SECTION 14 OF CHAPTER 8 OF THE CITY CODE OF 1958; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ENACTED that Subsection 4 of Ordinance No. 2612, enacted October 10, 1949, and Section 14 of Chapter 8, The City Code of 1958 be, and the same are hereby, amended to hereinafter read as follows: Section 2: "It shall be unlawful for any person owning or operating a Barber College to permit a Student Barber to do any barber work on any person unless such Student Barber has the supervision of a Journeyman Barber during the full time such barber work is be- ing performed. No Journeyman Barber shall supervise more than twenty (20) Student Barbers at the same time. " That the necessity of immediately making aforesaid changes, in view of the fact that the Legislature has passed a law which is in conflict with the ordinances of this City, creates a public emergency and an imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS, ACCORD- INGLY, PASSED AND APPROVED This day of June, 1961. "'0AY OF 19G I TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE- GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPENSION-OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY .COUNCILS 1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
