"ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR TSB ADMINISTRATION OF
THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE
CITY'S SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY ", BY AMENDING SUBSECTION

CHRISTI, TEW;
SECTION 1. That subsection (d) of Section 5 of Ordinance No.
3656, As Amended, be amended by adding the Class Title of Firefighter with
special assignment of Mechanic and authorizing compensation for the class in
the fourth higher salary schedule (grade).
SECTION 2. That subsection (d) of Section 5 of Ordinance No.
3656, As Amended, be amended by changing the class title of Fire Captain with
special assignment of Chief Fire Alarm Operator from second higher salary
schedule (grade) to third higher salary schedule (grade).
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it shall
not affect any valid provision of this or any other ordinance of the City of
Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate.
SECTION 4. The fact that there is an immediate need to adequately
compeusate certain positions in the Fire Division when assigned special duties
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
.suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor,
having declared such an emergency and necessity to exist, having requested

suspension of said Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed finally on
the date of its introduction, and that this ordinance take effect and be in full
fprce and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AM APPBOVM,

THE SUSPENSION-OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED,
OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
