AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION
OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN
THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE ", BEING
ORDINANCE NO. 3656, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL ON THE 10TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954,
AS A==, BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (e) of SECTION
1, M AD ING TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND EXECUTIVE
GROUP THE POSITION5 OF CIVIL DEFENS DIRECTOR,
SALARY GRADE 22, AND ASSISTANT CIVIL DEFENSE
DIRECTOR. SALARY GRADE 18; PROVIDING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 3656 entitled "AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN
FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES M
CONFLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE ", passed and approved on the 10th day of February, 1954,
as amended, is hereby amended by amending Subsection (e) of Section 1
thereof by adding to the Administrative and Executive Group the following
positions and salary grades:
ADMINISTRATIVE AND EXECUTIVE GROUP
GLASS TITLE SALARY GRADE
Civil Defense Director 22
Assistant Civil Defense Director 18
SECTION 2. The changes in Section 1 hereof shall be effective
on October 16, 1961.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it
shall not affect any valid provisions of this or any other ordinance of
the City of Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate.
SECTION 4. The fact that there is an mediate need to create
certain neV position classesaud a need to maintain an efficient administration
of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance

or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having
requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and that this ordinance take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND ®PMOVED, this the J-f day of October, 1961.

THE SUSPENSION-OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; 1', THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED,
OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
