HomeMy WebLinkAbout06590 ORD - 08/08/1962AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AMENDING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY ADDING ARTICLE XX PRO- VIDING FOR THE ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR ALL OFFICES AND POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE ", BEING ORDINANCE NO. 3658, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 10, 1954 BY AMENDING SECTION 4 OF ARTICLE XX OF SAID ORDINANCE BY ADDING CERTAIN POSITIONS AND INCREASING THE SALARY GRADE OF CERTAIN P_OSIT_IONS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE_; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 4, Article XX, of Ordinance No. 3658, passed and approved by the City Council on the 10th day of February, 1954, entitled "Amending the Rules and Regulations of the Civil Service Board of the City of Corpus Christi by adding Article XX providing for the adoption and administration of the position classification plan for all offices and positions in the classified service ", be, and the same is, hereby amended to hereafter read as follows: ADMINISTRATIVE AND CLERICAL GROUP Class Title Class Grade Senior Clerk --Stenographer III 15 Auditorium Manager 28 INSPECTION GROUP Taxicab Inspector , 22 ENGINEERING AND SCIENCES GROUP Assistant General Superintendent - Sewer System 30 SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it shall not affect any valid provisions of this or any other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to which these Rules and Regulations relate. SECTION 3. The changes in Section 1, hereof, shall be effective on August 1, 1962. SECTION 4. The fact that there is an inmiediate need to make certain class grade changes and add certain class titles and a need to maintain an efficient administration of City affairs creates a public 6590 _2_ emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rules that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having requested the suspension of the said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, it is accordingly so ordained.
