HomeMy WebLinkAbout06591 ORD - 08/08/1962Y AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3656, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE 10th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954, ENTITLED " ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPEN- SATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY ", BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. 3656 BY CHANGING THE SALARY SCHEDULE OF THE FIRE AND POLICE SERIES IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY GROUP;BY ADDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SECTION 1. That subsection (b) of Section 1 of Ordinance No. 3656, As Amended, be amended by changing the schedules of monthly salaries for all positions in the Fire and Police Series of the Public Safety Group to hereafter read as follows; FIRE AND POLICE SERIES PUBLIC SAFETY GROUP MONTHLY BASE PAY SALARY SCHEDULE AND GRADE TABLE Effective August 1, 1962 Salary Grade Minimum Salary A $373 $392 (service $411 (after 12 after months probation) service) B 423 C 443 D 464 E 484 F 508 G 533 H 569 I 588 J 615 R 819 SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph; subdivision, clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it shall not affect any valid provision of this or any other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to Which these rules and regulations relate. SECTION 3. The fact that there is an immediate need to adopt new salary schedules for the Fire and Police Division so there may be an 6591 2 efficient administration of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,and the Mayor, having declared such an emergency and necessity to exist, having requested sus- pension of said Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED, THIS THE f day of July, 1962.
