AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI AND SCOTCH INVESTMENT COMPANY,, AMENDING
THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND C. G.
GLASSCOCK DATED MAY 10, 1962, CONCERNING THAT
PROPERTY LOCATED EAST OF OCEAN DRIVE AND SHORE-
LINE BOULEVARD, IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE "GLASSCOCK
FILL PROPERTY ", SAID AMENDMENT TO BE IN THE FORM
AS THE COPY ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART

HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ACTING BY AND THROUGH
ITS CITY MANAGER, HERBERT W. WHITNEY, DID ON MAY 10, 1962, EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH C. G. GLASSCOCK WHEREBY THE CITY AGREED TO PROVIDE
UTILITY SERVICE TO THE PROPERTY EAST OF OCEAN DRIVE AND SHORELINE
BOULEVARD, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE "GLASSCOCK FILL PROPERTY", -
AND THE SAID C. G. GLASSCOCK AGREED TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF THE
SAID AREA; AND
WHEREAS, BY VIRTUE OF CONVEYANCE FROM C. G. GLASSCOCK, ET
AL, TO SCOTCH INVESTMENT COMPANY, DATED SEPTEMBER 11, 1962, THE SAID
SCOTCH INVESTMENT 15 THE OWNER OF THAT CERTAIN 22.47 ACRES OF LAND
HEREINABOVE REFERRED T0; AND
WHEREAS, IT IS THE DESIRE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
ON THE ONE HAND, AND SCOTCH INVESTMENT COMPANY, AS OWNER AND HOLDER
OF THE EASEMENTS, RIGHTS POWERS, PRIVILEGES, PROPERTY RIGHTS AND
INTERESTS ABOVE MENTIONED, ON THE OTHER HAND, TO MAKE CERTAIN AMEND-
MENTS TO THE SAID EASEMENT AND AGREEMENT OF MAY 10, 1962:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER, BE AND HE 15 HEREBY
AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND
SCOTCH INVESTMENT COMPANY, AMENDING THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT BETWEEN

PROPERTY LOCATED EAST OF OCEAN DRIVE AND SHORELINE BOULEVARD, IN THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE "GLASSCOCK
FILL PROPERTY", SAID AMENDMENT TO BE IN THE FORM AS THE COPY ATTACHED
HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY TO IMMEDIATELY EXECUTE THE HEREIN —
ABOVE DESCRIBED AGREEMENT FOR THE PURPOSES SET OUT THEREIN CREATES A
PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE
SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND 7IAT SUCH ORDI-
NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECES-
SITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE
AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED THIS THE
