A RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING MINUTE ORDER NO. 52211+, PASSED BY
THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION ON JANUARY 15,
1963, CONCERNING THE RE- ROUTING OF STATE
HIGHWAY 44 EASTWARD FROM TANCAHUA AND CARANCAHUA
TO MESQUITE AND CHAPARRAL; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, THE TEXAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT HAS ON JANUARY 15,
1963, PASSED A MINUTE ORDER, DESIGNATED AS MINUTE ORDER No. 52214,
CONCERNING THE EXTENSION OF HIGHWAY 44 EASTWARD FROM TANCAHUA AND
CARANCAHUA STREETS TO MESQUITE AND CHAPARRAL STREETS IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, A COPY OF WHICH MINUTE ORDER
IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND
WHEREAS, SAID MINUTE ORDER BY ITS OWN TERMS REQUIRES ACCEPTANCE
BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO BECOME A BINDING AGREEMENT WITH THE
STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT; AND
WHEREAS, THE CITY COUNCIL HAS DETERMINED THAT IT IS TO THE
BEST INTERESTS OF THE CITY THAT THE TERMS OF SAID MINUTE ORDER BE AC-
CEPTED:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT MINUTE ORDER No. 52214, PASSED BY THE STATE
HIGHWAY COMMISSION ON JANUARY 15, 1963, A COPY OF WHICH 15 ATTACHED
HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF, BE AND THE SAME I5 HEREBY ACCEPTED BY
THE CITY, INCLUDING ALL THE PROVISIONS THEREOF.
SECTION 2. THE SHORTNESS OF TIME EXISTING IN WHICH THE CITY
MAY TAKE ACTION IN THE MATTER OF ACCEPTANCE OF SUCH MINUTE ORDER AND THE
IMPORTANCE OF ACCEPTANCE OF SUCH MINUTE ORDER TO THE CITY CREATES A
PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLICI•ECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUS-
PENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE
PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE
OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY

COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY
TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND
THAT THIS RESOLUTION BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER
IT. ',-SAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED THIS THE DAY OF
