AN ORIANANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3658, PASSED AND APPROVED
ON THE 10th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954; ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE AMENDING THE RULES' AND REGULATIONS OF
THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD OF TIM CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI BY ADDING ARTICLE Sg PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POSITION
CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR ALL OFFICES AND POSITIONS
IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE ", AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING
SECTION 4 OF ARTICLE S% OF SAID pRDINANCE BY ADDING
THE POSITION OF UTILITIES SERVICE SUPERVISOR AND
CHANGING THE CLASS GRADE OF CERTAIN POSITIONS; BY'
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY.
CHRISTI, TESAS:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 3658, As Amended, be amended
by adding the position of Utilities Service Supervisor and changing the
class grade of certain positions so that said Section 4, Article = will
hereafter read as follows:

Tabulating Equipment Supervisor 28
Electronic Computer Programmer 24
Principal Tabulating Equipment Operator 21
School Crossing Guard 8
SECTION 4. If for any reason-any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it shall
not affect any Valid provisions of this or any other ordinance of the City of
Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate.
SECTION 5. The fact that there is an immediate need to create
certain position claspea and make certain class grade changes so there may be
an efficient administration of City - affairs creates a public' emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, haying declared such emergency
and necessity to exist, having requested the -suspension of said Charter rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that this ordinance tape effect'and We in full force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED AND APPROVED; this the 3 ( day
of July, 1963.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
