AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3656,. PASSED AND APPROVED
ON THE 10th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954, ENTITLED
"ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE.ADmmwTRATION
OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN
THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCE$ IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY ", BY AMENDING SUB -
$ECTION (b) OF SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINAN
3656 BY CHANGING THE SCHEDULF OF MONTHLY SALARIES
FOR POSITIONS IN THE COMPENSATION PLAN; BY CHANGING
THE HOURLY RATES FOR POSITIONS OF LABORER AND SEMI-
SKILLED LABORER; BY ADDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORFU$
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That subsection (b) of Section 1 of Ordinance No.
3656,
As- Amended, be amended by changing the schedules of monthly salaries
for all
positions in the Compensation Plan to hereafter read as follows:

SECTION 3.
If for any reason any section,
paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, or
provision of this ordinance shall
be held invalid, it shall
not affect any valid provision of this or any other
ordinance of the City of
Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations
relate.
SECTION 4.
The fact that there ig an immediate need to adopt new
salary schedules for City positions so there may be an efficient administration
of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution -

shall be passed finally, on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor, having declared such an emergency and necessity to exist, having re-
quested suspension of said Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction, and that this ordinance take effect and
be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY PASSED
AND APPROVED ? this the ( day of July, 1963.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
