CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PRO"
VIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE ", BEING ORDINANCE
NO. 3656, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
ON THE 10TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1954, AS AMENDED, BY
AMENDING SUBSECTION (E) OF SECTION 1, BY INCREASING
THE SALARY GRADES OF CERTAIN POSITIONS; PROVIDING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 3656 entitled "AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR
ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE;
WITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CIAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE ",
passed and approved on the 10th day of February, 1954, as amended, is hereby
amended by amending Subsection (E) of Section 1 to hereafter read as follows:

SECTION 2. If for any reason

any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it shall
not affect any valid provisions of this or any other ordinance of the City of
Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate.
SECTION 3. The change in Section 1 hereof shall be effective as
of November 1, 1963.
SECTION 4. The fact that there is a need to make certain class

grade changes so there may be an efficient administration of City affairs creates
a public emergency, and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter
Rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY so ORDAINED, this the / / day of August, 1963.

SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
