BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT ORDINANCE No. 3656 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CON- FLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE ", PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE LOTH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 195141 AS AMENDED, IS HEREBY AMENDED BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (A) AND SUBSECTION (D) OF SECTION 10 TO HEREAFTER READ AS FOLLOWS: "SECTION 10: LEAVES OF ABSENCE. (A) VACATION LEAVE: EVERY OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE IN THE CITY SERVICE EXCEPT TEMPORARY AND SEASONAL EMPLOYEES AND POLICE AND FIREFIGHTING PERSONNEL SHALL ACCRUE AND BE ALLOWED VACATION LEAVE WITH PAY BASED ON THE NUMBER OF REGULAR HOURS WORKED PER WEEK ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE: 140 HOURS PER WEEK 12 WORKING DAYS VACATION PER YEAR 1414 HOURS PER WEEK 13 WORKING DAYS VACATION PER YEAR I48 HOURS PER WEEK 144 WORKING DAYS VACATION PER YEAR EMPLOYEES WHO ARE REGULARLY REQUIRED TO WORK MORE OR LESS HOURS PER WEEK THAN SET FORTH IN THE ABOVE SCHEDULE SHALL ACCRUE AND BE ALLOWED VACATION LEAVE IN THE SAME RATIO AS 12 WORKING DAYS BEARS TO 140 HOURS. A WORKING DAY OF VACATION IS DEFINED AS 8 WORKING HOURS 7 %9 EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE COMPLETED 15 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE WITH THE CITY SHALL ACCRUE AND BE ALLOWED 5 WORKING DAYS OF VACATION LEAVE WITH PAY IN ADDITION TO THE ALLOWANCE IN THE ABOVE SCHEDULE. VACATION LEAVE CREDIT MAY BE ACCUMULATED TO A MAXIMUM OF 19 WORKING DAYS AT ANY ONE TIME AND SUCH LEAVE MAY BE GRANTED IN PERIODS OF NOT LESS THAN ONE DAY AND NOT MORE THAN 19 DAYS; HOWEVER, EMPLOYEES WHO REGULARLY WORK 1/2 DAY ON A SIXTH WORKING DAY OF A WEEK MAY TAKE VACATION IN THE AMOUNT OF 1/2 DAY PROVIDING IT-IS TAKEN CONCURRENTLY WITH OTHER DAYS OF AUTHORIZED VACATION LEAVE. ACCRUED VACATION LEAVE SHALL BE REVIEWED ANNUALLY ON AN EMPLOYEE'5 ANNIVERSARY DATE OF EMPLOYMENT AND ANY VACATION LEAVE CREDIT IN EXCESSOF 19 WORKING DAYS TO WHICH AN EMPLOYEE MAY HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN ENTITLED SHALL BE PERMANENTLY WITHDRAWN ON THAT DATE. ' VACATION LEAVE CREDIT PREVIOUSLY ACCRUED ON A CALENDAR DAY BASIS SHALL BE CONVERTED TO A WORKING DAY BASIS EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 21, 1963. ABSENCE ON ACCOUNT OF SICKNESS, INJURY OR DISABILITY IN EXCESS OF THAT HEREINAFTER AUTHORIZED FOR SUCH PURPOSES MAY, AT THE REQUEST OF THE EMPLOYEE AND WITHIN THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT HEAD, BE CHARGED AGAINST VACATION LEAVE ALLOWANCE. NO VACATION CREDIT SHALL BE GRANTED OR PAID AT TERMINATION UNLESS THE EMPLOYEE HAS BEEN EMPLOYED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME IN EXCESS OF SIX MONTHS. AN EMPLOYEE, OR HIS BENEFICIARY IN THE EVENT OF DEATH, SHALL BE PAID FOR ACCRUED VACATION LEAVE CREDIT UPON SEPARATION FROM THE SERVICE AT THE RATE OF HIS LAST MONTHLY SALARY OR HOURLY RATE FOR AN EQUIVALENT PERIOD. NO MORE THAN 19 WORKING DAYS OF VACATION SHALL BE PAID AN EMPLOYEE UPON TERMINATION. OFFICIAL CITY HOLIDAYS OCCURRING DURING AN EMPLOYEE'S VACATION SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED OR CHARGED AS A PART OF THE EMPLOYEE'S VACATION. EACH DEPARTMENT SHALL KEEP NECESSARY RECORDS OF VACATION LEAVE ALLOWANCES AND SHALL SCHEDULE VACATION LEAVES WITH PARTICULAR REGARD TO -2- SENIORITY OF THE EMPLOYEES, IN ACCORD WITH THE OPERATING REQUIREMENTS, AND, INSOFAR AS POSSIBLE WITH THE REQUESTS OF THE EMPLOYEES. SECTION 2.
