CANNON AS RECOGNIZED BY THE AWARD OF THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIAIIDN TO THE CORPORATION COURT OF CORPUS CHRISTI IN THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION TRAFFIC COURT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM- WHEREAS, THE CORPORATION COURT OF CORPUS CHRISTI HAS FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS BEEN UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF JUDGE 0. E. CANNON, CORPORATION COURT JUDGE, WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED TIME AND EFFORT OVER AND ABOVE THE CALL OF DUTY IN IMPROVEMENT OF PROCEDURES AND ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE INSAID COURT; AND WHEREAS, THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF JUDGE CANNON HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION BY ITS RECENT AWARD OF FIRST PLACE TO THE CORPORATION COURT OF CORPUS CHRISTI IN THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION TRAFFIC COURT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT DUE RECOGNITION BE GIVEN TO THE EFFORTS AND WORK OF JUDGE 0. E. CANNON IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF PROCEDURES AND ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN THE CORPORATION COURT OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THAT THIS RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION OF SUCH EFFORTS OF JUDGE CANNON BE SPREAD ON THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE EFFORTS OF JUDGE CANNON AND THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH HIM IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE'IN THE CORPORATION COURT, INCLUDING THE EFFORTS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE CITY PROSECUTOR AND CLERK OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CORPORATION COURT AS WELL AS ALL OF THE CITIZENS OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BE URGED TO COOPERATE WITH JUDGE CANNON AND THE`OFFICERS OF THE CITY CORPORATION COURT IN THE PROCEEDINGS OF SAID COURT TO FURTHER IMPROVE THE ADMINISTRATION OF-JUSTICE THEREIN. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 23RD DAY OF OCTOBER, 1963- AT ' , iL CITY SECR TARY APPROVED AST EGAL ORM A OR THI .J..i DAY OCTOBER, 1963:/ THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS CITY AT'T'ORNEY '7 062 CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS DAY OF VI' 19 _ TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE- GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO - DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
