AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT DATED JANUARY 28, 1964,
BETWEEN THE STATE OF TEXAS AND THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, FOR THE CONTINUED USE,
OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF THE STREET ILLUMINATION SYSTEM ON THE CORPUS CHRISTI
SHIP CHANNEL BRIDGE AND ITS APPROACHES AND INTERCHANGES IN THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI; PROVIDING FOR THE KMO TION OF SAID AGRMZONT; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
SECTION 1. That the certain agreement dated January 28, 1964, between the State
of Texas and the City of Corpus Christi, for the continued use, operation, and
maintenance of the street illumination system on the Corpus Christi Ship
Channel Bridge and its approaches and interchanges'in the City of Corpus Christi,
be and the same is hereby approved, and HERBERT W. WHITNEY, CITY MANAGER, is
hereby authorized to execute said agreement on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi,
and to transmit the same to the State of Texas for appropriate action.
SECTION 2. The fact that the existing street illumination system named in the above
mentioned is needed, creates an emergency which for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health, safety, and general welfare requires that this Ordi-
nance take effect immediately from and after its passage, and it is accordingly
so ordained.

THIS AC,R SHM made this 28th day of January, 1964, by and between the State
of Texas, hereinafter referred to as the "State," party of the first part, and the
City,of Cowls Christi, Nueces County, Texaa, acting by and through its duly
authorized officers under Ordinance passed, the day of , ,__, 1964,
hereinafter called the "City," party of the second part.

construct, maintain and operate a street in mination system on the Corpus Christi
Ship Channel Bridge and its approaches and interchanges, frm Davis Street to
Waco Street the route of Highways 10, U.S. 181 and State 93 and

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL,
RESPECTFULLY,
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
