WHEREAS, on February 10, 1964, Almighty God in His omnipotence
called from this life Allan Charles McCaughan; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable A. C. McCaughan was recognized as a
great administrator and a dedicated man who achieved great things for
his beloved City; and
WHEREAS, Corpus Christi was on the threshold of emerging
from a village to a City when Mr. McCaughan was elected Mayor, and
consequently there were many problems to be solved and improvements to
be made to place the City on the path to assuming its proper position
to growth and prosperity; and
WHEREAS, because of the many accomplishments for Corpus Christi
and its citizenry, which we enjoy today, he was esteemed and loved as
one of our all -time great Mayors; THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
That the sympathy of the entire citizenry of Corpus Christi,
Texas, be extended to the family of A. C. McCaughan in their bereave -
went;
That this expression of gratitude and appreciation on the part of
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, for the many years of devoted, con-
scientious, efficient and fruitful service the Honorable A. C. McCaughan
rendered to the City, be conveyed to the family in appropriate form and
that it be made a part of the records of the City Council of the City
of Corpus Christi, Texas.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
