AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH THE GOLDSTON COMPANY, INC., FOR
THE INSTALLATION OF PILING, C.C. MARINA_IMPROVL-
MMEENTTS. UNIT III• APPROPRIATING AND RE- APPROPRIAT-
NG TI HE SUM OF , 59,, THE AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACT,
FROM FUNDS CURRENTLY BUDGETED IN THE MARINA
ACTIVITY NO. 14151, CODE 502; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY
AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, A CONTRACT WITH THE GOLDSTON COMPANY, INC., FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF PILING, C.C. MARINA IMPROVEMENTS, UNIT III, ALL AS
MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCU-
MENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE
MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF THE
GOLDSTON COMPANY, INC. OPENED ON THE 19TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1964, THE
SAID BID OF THE GOLDSTON COMPANY, INC. BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST
ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE 1S HEREBY APPROPRIATED AND RE- APPROPRIATED
THE SUM OF $44,4459, THE AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACT, FROM FUNDS CURRENTLY
BUDGETED IN THE MARINA ACTIVITY NO. 44151, CODE 502.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO IMMEDIATELY BEGIN INSTALLATION
OF PILING, C.C. MARINA IMPROVEMENTS, UNIT III CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY
AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE
CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION
SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE
MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING
REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE

IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED, THIS THE P S DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1964.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
