AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF
THE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE
CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PRO-
VIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE ", BEING ORDINANCE NO.
3656, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON
THE 10TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 19542 AS AMENDED, BY
AMENDING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 92 REVISING
THE PROVISIONS CONCERNING HOLIDAYS; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No, 3656 entitled "AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE COMPENSATION PLAN
FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY SERVICE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CON-
FLICT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EF-
FECTIVE DATE ", passed and approved on the 10th day of February, 1954,
as amended, is hereby amended by amending Subsection (b)/of'Section 9
by adding the following sentence to said subsection.

"SECTION 9: HOLIDAYS:
(b) When any holiday listed above falls on a Saturday, the
preceding Friday shall be considered a holiday.
SECTION 2. The necessity for immediately putting into effect
the regulations hereinabove described creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that
such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date
of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from

GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCILS I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
