AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH HINCHBERGER CONSTRUCTION
COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE STATION NO.
12, DESIGNATED AS PROJECT NO. 212- 53 -14; APPROPRIAT-
ING OUT OF NO. 212 FIRE STATION BOND FUND THE SUM
OF $77,345.00 AND APPROPRIATING AND REAPPROPRIATING
OUT OF FIRE STATION FUNDS CURRENTLY BUDGETED IN
ACTIVITY NO. 3345, CODE 502, THE SUM OF $14,495.00,
MAKING A TOTAL OF $91,540.00 HEREBY APPROPRIATED, OF
WHICH $85,697.00 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
AND $3,143.00 IS FOR LABORATORY TESTING AND ARCHI-
TECTURAL SERVICES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
DIRECTED TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
A CONTRACT WITH HINCHBERGER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, CONTRACTORS, FOR CON-
STRUCTION OF FIRE STATION NO. 12, DESIGNATED AS PROJECT No. 212- 53 -14,
BEING SITUATED ON RAND MORGAN ROAD NEAR HIGHWAY 9, IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLANS, SPECI-
FICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY
SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING
TO THE BID OF HINCHBERGER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, OPENED ON THE 15TH DAY
OF APRIL, 1964, THE SAID BID OF HINCHBERGER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY BEING
THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED THE SUM OF $77,345.00
OUT OF N0. 212 FIRE STATION BOND FUND, AND THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED
AND REAPPROPRIATED OUT OF FIRE STATION FUNDS CURRENTLY BUDGETED IN
ACTIVITY No. 3345, CODE 502, THE SUM OF $14,495.00, MAKING A TOTAL OF
$91,540.00 HEREBY APPROPRIATED, OF WHICH AMOUNT $88,697.00 IS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $3043.00 IS FOR LABORATORY TESTING AND ARCHI-
TECTURAL SERVICES.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE AFORESAID
FIRE STATION TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE FIRE PROTECTION IN THE AREA TO BE
SERVED CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY

REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE PROVIDING THAT NO ORDI-
NANCE ORRESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUC-
TION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE
SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED
SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION
OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE
DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, J T IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE

THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT ,+
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
