AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AMENDING THE
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE
BOARD OF THE CITY OF' CORPUS CHRISTI BY ADDING
ARTICLE XX PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION AND AD-
MINISTRATION OF THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN
FOR ALL OFFICES AND POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED
SERVICE ", BEING ORDINANCE NO. 3658, PASSED AND
APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 103 1954
BY DELETING THE CLASS TITLE OF RIGHT OF WAY CO-
ORDINATOR: BY ADDING CERTAIN CLASS TITLES;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI: TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the class title of "Right of Way Coordinator"
is hereby deleted ,from the General Administrative Series of the Adminis-
trative and Clerical Group of said Ordinance No. 3658.
SECTION 2. That Section 4, Article XX, of Ordinance No. 3658,
passed and approved by the City Council on the 10th day of February, 1954,
entitled "AMENDING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY ADDING ARTICLE XX PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR ALL
OFFICES AND POSITIONS IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE ", be, and the same is,
hereby amended to hereafter read as follows:

Right of Way Agent I 23
Right of Way Agent II 25
Water System General Foreman 24
Assistant Gas Superintendent 33
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be
held invalid, it shall not affect any Valid provisions of this or any
other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to which these rules and
regulations relate.

SECTION 4. The fact that there is an immediate need to
create certain new position-classes and a need to maintain an efficient
administration of City affairs creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having
requested the suspension of the said Charter rule and that this ordinance
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
