AN ORDINANCE
APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND THE
SUM OF $7,723.05,OF WHICH AMOUNT $7,600.00 IS FOR
ACQUISITION OF PARCEL 31 AND $123.05 IS FOR TITLE
EXPENSE AND RELATED COST THERETO, ALL APPLICABLE
TO PROJECT NO. 220 -53 -18.2, MID -TOWN TRAFFIC EX-
CHANGE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE REAL ESTATE SALES CONTRACTS, FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF N0. 220 STREET
BOND FUND THE SUM OF $7,723.05, OF WHICH AMOUNT $7,600.00 IS FOR ACQUISI-
TION OF PARCEL 31, MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HEREINAFTER, AND $123.05 IS FOR
TITLE EXPENSE AND RELATED COST THERETO, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO.
220 -53 -18.2, MID -TOWN TRAFFIC EXCHANGE:

LOT NUMBER SIX (6), BLOCK ONE (1), PARK PLACE ADDITION
TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, AS
PER MAP OR PLAT ON FILE AND OF RECORD IN THE OFFICE OF
THE COUNTY CLERK OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS AND BEING DE-
SCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN THAT CERTAIN DEED FROM
M. G. ELLIS AND WIFE, MARTHA ELLIS, TO A. J. BECKER, OF
RECORD IN VOL. 129, PAGES 73 -75, DEED RECORDS OF NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS, TO WHICH REFERENCE IS HERE MADE FOR A
MORE COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF SAID PROPERTY.
SECTION 2. THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE
REAL ESTATE SALES CONTRACT FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE AFORESAID PARCEL OR
TRACT OF LAND.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO MAKE THE APPROPRIATION HEREINABOVE
DESCRIBED CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY
REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLU-
TION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY
EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT
THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE

EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE_/Ll-_DAY OF AUGUST, 1964.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHILL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
