A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, an important portion of Corpus Christi
is the beach area extending northward from the Corpus Christi -
Port Aransas Ship Channel and generally referred to as Corpus
Christi Beach, and
WHEREAS, said Corpus Christi Beach has for many
years been attractive as a tourist and recreation area, and
WHEREAS, said Corpus Christi Beach and sur-r6,unding' -
area has deteriorated to a great extent by reason of beach
erosion and lack of,.tiigfi tide proEection,'and, -
r ,
WHEREAS;' the Congress of the United States has
provided for assistance to rehabilitate areas similar to
Corpus Christi - 'Beach and restore damages from beach erosion
and'provide,:beach erosionlcontrol and hurricane protection,
and
WHEREAS., the ,Committee, on Publiic_•Works of the -
House of Representatives has requested the Secretary of the
Army to cause a survey to be made on the shores of Corpus
Christi Bay in the vicinity of Corpus Christi Beach,and
under the direction of the Secretary of the Army, the Chief
of Engineers to assist in said surveybas ordered that a
public hearing be held at 10:00 A. M., Thursday, 5 November,
1964, and
WHEREAS, cooperation of local governmental bodies
and citizens of the community is important to assure the aid
of the United States Government in a project of protecting
and reconstructing Corpus Christi Beach:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
That the cooperation of the City Government in-the
conduct of the hearing on 5 November, 1964, and the conduct

of the survey by the Chief of Engineers of the Corps of
Engineers is assured that all citizens of the city as well
as employees of the City Government furnish such information
as will enable the Chief of Engineers to present a true
picture of the conditions "and needs of the area to the said
Committee on Public Works.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said Congressional
Committee be assured that the City desires to furnish such
share of project construction costs and other assistance
that is determined to be proper and necessary and that subject
to.-the approval of the plan, the provision at the proper time
of adequate funds will on determination of needs of the
project and a plan of construction give necessary assistance
to assure execution of the project.

THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO-
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
