AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE A
LEASE AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
AND THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS, POST NO. 5398, CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS,'FOR A PORTION OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI
ARMORY PROPERTY, LOCATED AT 447 RAMSEY STREET, CORPUS
CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAIN-
TAINING AND OPERATING A BOY SCOUT HUT, A COPY OF SUCH
LEASE AGREEMENT BEING ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART
HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND
DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A
LEASE AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND THE VETERANS
OF FOREIGN WARS, POST No. 5398, CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FOR A PORTION OF
THE CORPUS CHRISTI ARMORY PROPERTY LOCATED AT 447 RAMSEY STREET, CORPUS
CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING AND OPERATING
A BOY SCOUT TROOP HUT, A COPY OF SUCH LEASE AGREEMENT BEING ATTACHED HERETO
AND MADE A PART HEREOF.
SECTION Z. THE FACT THAT IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE VETERANS OF
FOREIGN WARS, POST No. 5398, CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AS SPONSORS OF A TROOP
OF BOY SCOUTS, TO SECURE AND MAINTAIN SAID PROPERTY FOR THE IMMEDIATE USE
AND IN THE INTEREST OF SAID BOY SCOUT TROOP, CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND
AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE
AND THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE
IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ
AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED
THAT SUCH PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT
SAID CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND
EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED THIS THE
DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1961F.
