AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS'
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION I. That Section 4 of said Ordinance No. 3658, be,
and the same is hereby amended by changing the class grade of
certain positions to hereafter read as follows:

SECTION 2. That Section 4 of said Ordinance No. 3658, be,
and the same is hereby amended by creating certain new class titles
and class grades to hereafter read as follows:

SECTION 3. That Section 4 of said Ordinance No. 3658, be,
and the same is hereby amended by changing the class titles of

SECTION 4. That Section 4 of said Ordinance No. 3658, be,
and the same is hereby amended by reducing the work week of the
class title of Humane Officer from 48 hours per week to 40 hours per
week.
SECTION 5. If for any reason any section, paragraph, sub-
division, clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be
held invalid, it shall not affect any valid provisions of this or any
other ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi to which these rules and
regulations relate.
SECTION 6. The effective date of the above changes shall be
August 1, 1965.
SECTION 7. The fact that there is an immediate need to create
certain new positions and a need to maintain an efficient administration
of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having requested the
suspension of the said Charter Rule and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT
IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
