AN ORDINANCE
INCREASING THE RATE OF DEPOSITS TO THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL
RETIREMENT SYSTEM FROM 3% ON 3600 TO 5% ON $3600 FOR
EMPLOYEES WHO ARE MEMBERS OF CORPUS CHRISTI GROUPS
NO. 2 AND 3 OF THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM;
PROVIDING ANFFE
_ECTIVE DATE; ADDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS. k
SECTION I. That the rate of deposits to the Texas Municipal
Retirement System be changed from 3% on $3600 per year to 5% on $3600
per year for employees who are members of Corpus Christi Groups No.
2 and 3 of the Texas Municipal Retirement System;
SECTION 2. The rate changes in Section I shall be effective
as of January 1, 1966.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid, it
shall not affect any valid provisions of this or any other ordinance of
the City of Corpus Christi to which these rules and regulations relate;
SECTION 4. The fact that there is an immediate need to make
revisions in the employees retirement plan and an immediate need to
advise the Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of such revisions
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter Rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read on three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor, having requested the suspension of the said Charter Rule
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and that such ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the �f

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
