CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
On this the 17th day of August, 1966, the City Council
of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, convened in Regular Meeting,
with the following members of said Council present, to -wit:

with the following absent:

the following among other business was transacted:

Mr. presented for the consideration of
the Council an ordinanc . The ordinance was read by the City
Secretary. The Mayor presented to the Council a communication in
writing pertaining to said proposed ordinance, as follows:

TO THE CITY COUNCIL
Corpus Christi, Texas
Gentlemen:
j; The public importance and the pressing need for buying
and constructing a public bus transporation system with the pro-
ceeds of the bonds voted at the election held on June 25, 1966,
creates an emergency•and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of rules and Charter provisions requiring ordinances
to be considered and voted upon at three regular meetings. I,
therefore, request that the City Council pass the proposed

ordinance 'awarding t� o the purchasers the $500,000 General Obli-
gation Bonds as an emergency. You will ple ase'cons~ider this
request in connection with the ordinance which has been intro-
duced in the City Council on this subject.

Commissioner moved that the Charter pro-
vision prohibiting ordinances from being passed finally on the
date introduced be suspended for the reasons stated in the written
request of the Mayor and stated in the emergency ' of the

ordinance. The motion was seconded by Commissioner

The Mayor requested that the records show that he

Commissioner moved that the ordinance

NAYS: None.
The Mayor requested that the records show that he

The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been passed.

BY THE CITY,COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS, AWARDING TO THE PURCHASERS
$500,400 CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI_, TEXAS,
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, SERIES 1966; RE-
PEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has passed an ordinance on
August 10, 1966, authorizing the issuance of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, General Obligation Bo ds, Series 1966, in the
principal amount of $500,000; and
WHEREAS, said Council deems it advisable and to the
best interest of the City that•the aforementioned bonds be sold.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF `
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
1. That the City of Corpus Christi,rTexas, General
Obligation Bonds, Series 1966, $500,000, are hereby sold and
shall be delivered to the Interest and Sinking Funds, respect-
ively, as follows:
Bonds Nos. 1 through 8 to the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, Interest and Sinking Fund No. 1839, Water District No. 2
Bonds, Series 1950;
Bonds Nos. 9 through 16 to the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, Interest and Sinking Fund No. 1869, General Improvement
Bonds, Series 1963 -A;
Bonds Nos. 17 through 20 to the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, I,.nterest and Sinking Fund No. 1870, General Improvement
;'�•. Bonds, Series 1964,,'
for the principal amount thereof and accrued interest to the date
of delivery.
2. That all ordinances and resolutions or parts
thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
3. The fact that the contemplated use of the proceeds
of the bonds is necessary for the orderly development and growth
of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter Rule providing that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council; and the Mayor having declared that such
public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having
requested that said Charter Rule be suspended, and that this
ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, it is accordingly so ordained.

foregoing is a true, full and correct copy of an ordinance
passed by the City Council of the City of Corp "4- Christi,
Texas, (and of the minute`s pertaining thereto) on the 17th>day
of August, 1966, awarding to the purchasers the $500,000 City.of
Corpus Christi, Texas, General Obligation Bonds, Series 1966,
which ordinance is duly of record in the minutes of said City
Council.

RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT 15 INTRO -
