Ekstrom, a pioneer in the transportation business, both in the midwestern area of the United States and in Corpus Christi, is in the process of relinquishing his interest in transportation and retiring to a more leisurely life of "just enjoying the many friendships" he has made during his thirty -three years of residence; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ed, as he is affectionately known, has made a tremendous impact upon the business and civic aspects of our City, and his active participation will be sorely missed; and WHEREAS, his philanthrophy and generosity to civic organizations, hospitals and numerous individuals in the most unostentatious manner, has endeared him to all who know him, or know of him, in a way that few of our citizens have been privileged to enjoy; and WHEREAS, in view of the aforementioned characteristics of this outstanding citizen, it is deemed fitting and proper that his contribu- tion to our community be publicly recognized and our expression of appre- ciation be made to him: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,•TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Honorable Ed C. Ekstrom be commended for his very great part in making Corpus Christi the lovely City it is, and particularly, in making life sweeter for so many, individually and collectively, by his financial assistance in time of crisis, his liberal donations to hospital programs, child care facilities and programs, continuing to provide bus service long after it became unprofitable so that bus users would not suffer, and his many other civic and charitable endeavors for the benefit of the citizens of Corpus Christi. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be pre- sented to our esteemed friend and benefactor on behalf of the citizens of Corpus Christi, Texas. 8JL 76 PASSED, APPROVED AND FILED, in the official archives of -said City of Corpus Christi, this 21st day of September, A.D., 1966.
