AN ORDINANCE
CLOSING A PORTION OF HILLCREST STREET FROM A TELOPE
FRONTAGE ROAD TO THE ALLEY SOUTH OF ANTELOPE, MORE
FULLY DESCRIBED HEREINAFTER, LOCATED IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, SUBJECT TO THE
RETENTION BY THE CITY OF A 10 -FOOT EASEMENT FOR AN
EXISTING 6 -INCH SANITARY SEWER LINE: AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE FOR HOLDING A HEARING
CONCERNING THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF HILLCREST STREET, FROM ANTELOPE
FRONTAGE ROAD TO THE ALLEY SOUTH OF ANTELOPE, MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HERE-
INAFTER, WAS GIVEN BY PUBLICATION ANDREGISTERED MAIL TO THE LAST KNOWN
ADDRESSES OF THE O'W'NERS OF PROPERTYABUTTING SAID PORTION OF HILLCREST
STREET AND WITHIN 450 FEET OF THE AREA TO BE CLOSED, AND THEREAFTER, PUR-
SUANT TO SAID NOTICE, PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD AT REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ON OCTOBER 5,
1966, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE CITY CHARTER; AND
WHEREAS, IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AFTER SUCH HEAR-
ING THAT THE PORTION OF HILLCREST STREET PROPOSED TO BE ABANDONED IS NOT
NEEDED NOW, NOR WILL IT BE WITHIN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE NEEDED AS A
PUBLIC STREET; AND
WHEREAS, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT IT IS TO THE ADVANTAGE OF
THE CITY TO ABANDON THE PORTION OF HILLCREST STREET HEREINAFTER OUTLINED
AS PUBLIC STREET 50 THAT THE SAME MAY BE USED FOR OTHER PURPOSES BY THE
ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS, RETAINING, HOWEVER, A 10 -FOOT EASEMENT IN
SAID HILLCREST STREET FOR AN EXISTING 6 -INCH SANITARY SEWER LINE:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THAT PORTION OF HILLCREST STREET, DESCRIBED AS
FOLLOWS, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY CLOSED FOR PUBLIC USE AND ABANDONED TO
THE OWNERS OF THE ABUTTING PROPERTY:
BEING THAT PORTION OF HILLCREST STREET, SOUTH OF THE
ANTELOPE FRONTAGE ROAD AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
BY METES AND BOUNDS AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF LOT 9, BLOCK 1,
NELSON ADDITION NO. 2, AS SHOWN BY MAP OF RECORD IN
VOLUME 1, PAGE 18, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, MAP RECORDS,
SAID POINT BEING IN THE NORTH RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF
A 10 -FOOT ALLEY SHOWN BY SAID MAP OF RECORD FOR THE
SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE TRACT HEREIN DESCRIBED;
THENCE N. 670 571 27° W., A DISTANCE OF 55.64 FEET
TO THE POINT OF CURVE OF A CURVE IN THE SOUTH LINE
OF LOT 1, BLOCK 1, TERESA TERRACE AS SHOWN IN VOLUME
4, PAGE 30, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, MAP RECORDS;

THENCE IN A NORTHEASTERLY DIRECTION WITH THE'ARC OF
SAID CURVE TO THE LEFT WHOSE CENTRAL ANGLE IS 600
491 2011, AND WHOSE RADIUS IS 10.00 FEET, A DISTANCE
OF 10.62 FEET TO THE POINT OF TANGENCY OF SAID CURVE;
THENCE N. 290 44' E., WITH THE SOUTHEAST BOUNDARY LINE
OF DOTS 1 AND 2, BLOCK 1, SAID TERESA TERRACE, A DISTANCE
OF 125.51 FEET TO THE POINT OF CURVE OF A CURVE TO THE
LEFT"
THENCE IN A NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION WITH THE ARC OF
SAIDI'�1C URVE TO THE LEFT WHOSE CENTRAL ANGLE IS 119°
101 4011, AND WHOSE RADIUS IS 10.0 FEET, A DISTANCE
OF 20.80 FEET TO THE POINT OF TANGENCY OF SAID CURVE;

LINE OF SAID ANTELOPE FRONTAGE ROAD, A DISTANCE OF 74.31
FEET TO THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF SAID LOT 9, BLOCK 1,
NELSON ADDITION N0. 2 FOR THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE
TRACT HEREIN DESCRIBED;
THENCE S. 290 441 W., WITH THE NORTHWEST BOUNDARY LINE
OF SAID LOT 9, A DISTANCE OF 171.75 FEET TO THE PLACE
OF BEGINNING.
THE EASEMENT HEREBY RETAINED IS DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
5 FEET EACH SIDE OF THE CENTERLINE OF THAT PORTION OF
HILLCREST STREET AS ABOVE DESCRIBED. THE SAID EASEMENT
IS FOR AN EXISTING 6 -INCH SANITARY SEWER LINE.
SECTION 2. THE FACT THAT THE PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY
WOULD BE BETTER SERVED BY THE CLOSING OF THE SAID PORTION OF SAID STREET
CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDI-
NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EME GENCY AND NECESSITY
EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT
THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND
TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT ROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY 50 ORDAINED, THIS THE DAY OF OCTOBER, 1966.

THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
