AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A CON-
TRACT WITH FOWCO CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF BRAWNER PARKWAY WILLOW AND PECAN STREET IMPROVEMENTS,
PROJECT NO. 220-61-43; APPROPRIATING OUT OF N0. 22q STREET
BOND FUND Tff,_SUM OF $59,000.00 OF WHICH AMOUNT $53,2$0.70
IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,719.30 IS FOR CON-
TINGENCIES, INCLUDING ENGINEERING, LABORATORY TESTING,
LEGAL ADVERTISING, AND EXPERT WITNESS FEES; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED
AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A
CONTRACT WITH FOWCO CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE BRAWNER
PARKWAY, WILLOW AND PECAN STREET IMPROVEMENTS, DESIGNATED AS PROJECT
N0. 220- 61 -43, SAID CONSTRUCTION TO CONSIST OF BASE WORK, GRADING, CALICHE,
AND LIME STABILIZED BASE WITH HOT -MIX ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT, CURBS,
GUTTERS, SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS, AND STORM SEWER FACILITIES ON THE SOUTH LANE
OF BRAWNER PARKWAY FROM CARROLL LANE TO DAKIN PLACE, ON WILLOW STREET FROM
150' SOUTH OF HARRIS TO BRAWNER, SOUTH LANE, AND ON PECAN STREET FROM WILLOW
STREET TO CARROLL LANE, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICA-
TIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY,
ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE SID
OF FOWCO CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. OPENED ON THE 14TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1966,
THE SAID BID OF FOWCO CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST
ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF NO. 220 STREET
BOND FUN911THE SUM OF $59,000, OF WHICH AMOUNT $53,280.70 IS FOR THE CON -
STRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,719.30 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, INCLUDING ENGINEERING,
LABORATORY TESTING AND LEGAL ADVERTISING AND EXPERT WITNESS FEES.
SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION OF THE AFORE-
MENTIONED CONTRACT AND THE APPROPRIATION OF THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO PROVIDE
IMPROVEMENTS AND CONNECTIONS FOR AN ADEQUATE STREET FACILITY FOR BETTER
TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC

NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE
OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND
THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND
NECESSITY EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER BE SUSPENDED AND THAT
THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE
EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE / 7 DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1966.

FUND FROM WHICH IT IS PROPOSED TO BE DRAWN AND SUCH MONEY IS NOT
APPROPRIATED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE.

THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
