AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 5339, AUTHORIZING CERTAIN
TELEPHONE RATES, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL ON FINAL READING ON APRIL 292 19592 BY
AMENDING THE CHARGES FOR AMPLIFIER SETS AND SERVICE
CONNECTIONS, MOVES AND CHANGES; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IR ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT,PURSUANT TO REQUEST OF SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE
COMPANY, ORDINANCE N0. 5339, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON
THIRD AND FINAL READING ON APRIL 29, 19591 AUTHORIZING CERTAIN TELEPHONE
RATES, BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED BY AMENDING THE SCHEDULE OF MISCEL-
LANEOUS RATES AND CHARGES OF SECTION 11, MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT, SECTION 19
THEREOF, ON SHEET 5 50 THAT SUBPARAGRAPHS A, B AND C SHALL HEREAFTER BE AT
THE RATE OF $1.00 A MONTH AND AMENDING SECTION IX, SERVICE CONNECTIONS,
MOVING AND CHANGE CHARGES, ON SHEET 9 OF SAID ORDINANCE N0. 5339, TO HERE-
AFTER READ AS SET OUT ON THE ATTACHED AMENDED SCHEDULE.
SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY TO IMMEDIATELY AMEND THE TELEPHONE
RATES SO AS TO APPLY TO AMPLIFIER SETS AND SERVICE CONNECTIONS, MOVES AND
CHANGES CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY RE-
QUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION
SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDI-
NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY
EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS
ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT
AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED, THIS THE '/ DAY OF DECEMBER, 1966.

# Regular length retractile receiver cords will be treated as
standard equipment and will be installed on all new installations,
moves, and changes whether equipment is left-in -place or not.
When a regular length retractile receiver cord is installed at
customer's request and not in connection with a paid visit, charge
Instrument Change Charge for the first cord and $1.00 for each
additional cord installed at the same time.
When a regular length retractile receiver cord is installed at
customer's request in connection with a paid visit for which a
recurring or non - recurring charge is applicable, charge $1.00 for
each cord so installed.

FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FORE-
GOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR
THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT
SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY
COUNCIL, I, THEREFORE, HEREBY REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE
OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDINANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRO -
DUCEO, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
