AN ORDINANCE
CLOSING ALL STREETS AND ALLEYS BOUNDED ON THE NORTH
BY BEACH AVENUE, ON THE EAST BY TIMON BOULEVARD, ON
THE NORTH RIGHT
INE
77, 66, 67 AND 60, ALL IN BROOKLYN ADDITION, AS SHOWN
BY MAP OR PLAT OF SAID ADDITION IN THE RECORDS OF THE
COUNTY CLERK OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS; AND ABANDONING
SAME TO THE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY ABUTTING THEREON;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE FOR HOLDING A HEARING
CONCERNING THE CLOSING OF ALL STREETS AND ALLEYS BOUNDED ON THE NORTH BY
BEACH AVENUE, ON THE EAST BY TIMON BOULEVARD, ON THE SOUTH BY GULF SPRAY
AVENUE, AND ON THE WEST BY HIGHWAY NO. 181, BROOKLYN ADDITION, IN THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, WAS GIVEN BY PUBLICATION AND BY
MAILING NOTICE OF HEARING TO THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESSES OF THE OWNERS OF
PROPERTY ABUTTING THE STREETS AND ALLEYS AFFECTED AND WITHIN 450 FEET OF
THE AREA TO BE CLOSED, AND THEREAFTER, PURSUANT TO SAID NOTICE, PUBLIC
HEARING WAS HELD AT REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI ON MAY 17, 1967, AND CONTINUED AT REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 31, 1967, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE
CITY CHARTER; AND
WHEREAS, IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL,AFTER SUCH HEARING,
THAT THE AFORESAID STREETS AND ALLEYS ARE NOT NOW NEDDED, NOR WILL THEY BE
WITHIN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE NEEDED AS PUBLIC STREETS AND ALLEYS; AND
WHEREAS, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT IT IS TO THE ADVANTAGE OF
THE CITY TO ABANDON THOSE PORTIONS OF THE AFORESAID STREETS AND ALLEYS, AS
PUBLIC STREETS AND ALLEYS SO THAT THE SAME MAY BE USED BY THE ABUTTING
PROPERTY OWNERS FOR OTHER PURPOSES:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:

SECTION 1. THAT ALL STREETS AND ALLEYS BOUNDED ON THE NORTH
BY BEACH AVENUE, ON THE EAST BY TIMON BOULEVARD, ON THE SOUTH BY GULF SPRAY
AVENUE, AND ON THE WEST BY HIGHWAY NO. 151, BROOKLYN ADDITION, ARE HEREBY
CLOSED FOR PUBLIC USE AND ABANDONED TO THE OWNERS OF THE ABUTTING PROPERTY,
WHICH STREETS AND ALLEYS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
SEAGULL BOULEVARD FROM THE SOUTH RIGHT WAY LINE OF BEACH
AVENUE TO THE NORTH RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF GULF SPRAY AVENUE;
HAYES STREET FROM THE EAST RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF HIGHWAY 151
TO THE WEST RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF TIMON BOULEVARD;
NEAL STREET FROM THE EAST RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF HIGHWAY 151
TO THE WEST RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF TIMON BOULEVARD; AND
ALL ALLEYS IN BLOCKS 75, A -6, 77, 66, 67 AND 65, ALL IN
BROOKLYN ADDITION, IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS, AS SHOWN BY MAP OR PLAT OF SAID ADDITION
IN THE RECORDS OF THE COUNTY CLERK OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS.
SECTION 2. THE FACT THAT THE PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY
WOULD BE BETTER SERVED BY THE CLOSING OF THE AFORESAID STREETS AND ALLEYS
CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE
CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON
THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR
HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE
SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY
ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND
EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED THIS THE

SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL OE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL) I, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
