HomeMy WebLinkAbout08621 ORD - 10/04/1967l AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH AUSTIN BRIDGE COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OSO BRIDGE NO. 2� ftJECT; APPROPRIATING AND�RE- APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 4925, CODE 345, THE SUM OF $30,000, OF WHICH AMOUNT $24,403.7$ IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,596.22 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, INCLUDING ENGINEERING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: r SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH AUSTIN BRIDGE COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OSO BRIDGE #2 PROJECT; SAID CONSTRUCTION TO CONSIST OF THE COMPLETE RECONSTRUCTION OF OSO BRIDGE #21 USING EXISTING MATERIALS AND NEW MATERIALS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF AUSTIN BRIDGE COMPANY, OPENED OCTOBER 4, 1967, THE SAID BID OF AUSTIN BRIDGE COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 2. THAT THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED AND REAPPROPRIATED OUT OF NO. 102 GENERAL FUND, ACTIVITY 4925, THE SUM OF $30,000, OF WHICH SUM $24,403.78 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,596.22 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES, INCLUDING ENGINEERING. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION OF THE AFORE- MENTIONED CONTRACT AND THE APPROPRIATION OF THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO RECONSTRUCT OSO BRIDGE WHICH WAS DAMAGED BY HURRICANE BEULAH, CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRO- DUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CIT Y: CO UNCIL, AND THE MAYOR, HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH EMER- GENCY AND NECESSITY EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED j AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE 4TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1967.
