HomeMy WebLinkAbout08662 ORD - 11/15/1967• IMS:HR :11 -15 -67 9 • r AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 7998, AND IN LIEU THEREOF ADOPTING A NEW NAME FOR A PORTION OF CAPE LOOKOUT, BETWEEN SOUTH ALAMEDA AND CAPE ROMAIN, A CITY STREET IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, TO HEREAFTER BE DESIGNATED AS SOUTH SHORES ESTATES: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT ORDINANCE N0. 7998 BE, AND THE SAME IS HEREBY, REPEALED IN ITS ENTIRETY, AND IN LIEU THEREOF, THERE IS HEREBY ADOPTED A NEW STREET NAME FOR A PORTION OF CAPE LOOKOUT, SITUATED BETWEEN SOUTH ALAMEDA AND CAPE ROMAIN, A CITY STREET IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, SAID PORTION OF CAPE LOOKOUT TO BE HEREAFTER DESIGNAT- ED AS "SOUTH SHORES ESTATES ". SECTION 2. THAT THE DIRECTOR OF TRAFFIC ENGINEERING BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO CAUSE TO BE REMOVED ANY STREET SIGNS OR MARKERS WHICH ARE ERRONEOUS AFTER THE PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE AND TO ERECT NEW STREET SIGNS OR MARKERS AT APPROPRIATE PLACES DESIGNATING THE CORRECT NAME OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED STREET. SECTION 3. THE FACT THAT THE CHANGE OF NAME AS ABOVE SET FORTH SHOULD BE DESIGNATED BY APPROPRIATE MARKERS AND DESIGNATION SHOULD BE MADE AS PROMPTLY AS POSSIBLE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECES- SITY TO EXIST, HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE j DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1967.
