AN ORDINANCE
CLOSING PORTIONS OF WEAVER, REDMOND, BEHMANN, MCIVER,
JESTER AND DRISCOLL STREETS, ALL IN FLOUR BLUFF PARK,
AS SHOWN BY MAP OF RECORD IN VOLUME 7, PAGE 52, NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS MAP RECORDS, AND ALSO CLOSING A PORTION
OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 17, NAVAL CENTER, AS SHOWN BY MAP
OF RECORD IN VOLUME 8, PAGE 18, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS MAP
RECORDS, ALL AS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HEREINAFTER, SUBJECT
TO RETAINING AN EASEMENT TEN FEET (10') IN WIDTH FOR THE
ENTIRE LENGTH OF THAT PORTION OF JESTER STREET HEREBY
CLOSED, SAID CLOSING BEING SUBJECT TO THE FURTHER PROVISION
THAT SHOULD FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS IN THE AREA INDICATE THE
ADVANTAGE OF CONNECTING DEAD END STREETS, THE DEPARTMENT
OF THE NAVY WILL BE REQUESTED TO GRANT AN EASEMENT OVER
NAVY PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THE NEW BOUNDARY WITHOUT
CHARGE, THE COST OF IMPROVEMENTS, INCLUDING RELOCATION OF
THE BOUNDARY FENCE, TO BE BORNE BY THE CITY, THIS EASEMENT
ALSO TO ALLOW INSTALLATION OF THE SANITARY SEWER FORCE
MAIN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE FOR HOLDING A HEARING
CONCERNING THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF WEAVER, REDMOND, BEHMANN, MCIVER,
JESTER AND DRISCOLL STREETS, ALL IN FLOUR BLUFF PARK, AND A PORTION OF THE
ALLEY IN BLOCK 17, NAVAL CENTER, WAS GIVEN BY PUBLICATION AND REGISTERED
MAIL TO THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESSES OF THE OWNERS OF PROPERTY ABUTTING SAID
PORTIONS OF SAID STREETS AND SAID ALLEY AND WITHIN 450 FEET OF THE AREA
TO BE CLOSED, AND THEREAFTER, PURSUANT TO SAID NOTICE, PUBLIC HEARING
WAS HELD AT REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ON NOVEMBER 29, 1967, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
PROVISIONS OF THE CITY CHARTER; AND
WHEREAS, IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AFTER SUCH HEARING
THAT THE PORTIONS OF THE STREETS AND THE ALLEY ABOVE DESCRIBED ARE NOT
NEEDED NOW, AND THAT IT WILL BE TO THE ADVANTAGE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO HAVE SAID PORTIONS OF SAID STREETS AND THE ALLEY CLOSED,
SUBJECT TO RETENTION OF AN EASEMENT TEN FEET (10') IN WIDTH FOR THE ENTIRE
LENGTH OF THAT PORTION OF JESTER STREET HEREBY CLOSED, AND SUBJECT TO OTHER
PROVISIONS AS HEREINAFTER MORE FULLY DESCRIBED:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THERE IS HEREBY CLOSED FOR PUBLIC USE THAT PORTION OF
WEAVER, REDMOND, BEHMANN, MCIVER, JESTER AND DRISCOLL STREETS, ALL IN FLOUR

BLUFF PARK, AS SHOWN BY MAP OF RECORD IN VOLUME 7, PAGE 52, NUECES COUNTY,
TEXAS MAP RECORDS, AND ALSO A PORTION OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 17, NAVAL
CENTER, AS SHOWN BY MAP OF RECORD IN VOLUME 8, PAGE 18, NUECES COUNTY,
TEXAS MAP RECORDS, THE PORTIONS OF STREETS TO BE CLOSED BEING MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
Being an irregular tract of land out of Flour Bluff Park as shown by map of record
in Volume 7, Page 52 Naeces County, Texas Map Records and consisting of portions
of Weaver, Redmond, Behmann, McIver, Jester, and Driscoll Streets and more particularly
described by metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at the southwest corner of Block 3, said Flour Bluff Park for a corner of
the tract herein described;
Thence S. 610 31' E. with the southwest boundary line of said Block 3, a distance
of 280.0 feet to the southeast corner of said Block 3, for a corner of the tract
herein described;
Thence N. 280 31' 30" E, with the southeast boundary of said Block 3, a distance
of 1245.0 feet to the northeast corner of said Block 3, for a corner of the tract
herein described;
Thence N. 61 0 31' W, with the northeast boundary line of said Block 3, a distance
of 280.0 feet to the northwest corner of Block 3, for a corner of the tract herein

Thence N. 280 31' 30" E, across Driscoll Street a distance of 50.0 feet to a point
for a corner of the tract herein described,
Thence S. 61 31' E, with the northeast right -of -way line of said Driscoll Street
a distance of 668.20 feet to the point of intersection with the Southeast right -of-
was line of Behmann Street for a corner of the tract herein described,
Thence S. 280 29' 48" W, with the southeast right -of -way line of said Behmann Street,
a distance of 1295.0 feet to the point of intersection with the Northeast right -of-

Thence S. 610 31' E, with the northeast right -of -way line of Jester Street, a
distance of 638.35 feet to a point for a corner of the tract herein described;
Thence S. 890 27' W, across Jester Street, a distance of 103.02 feet to a point
in the southwest right -of -way line of said Jester Street for a corner of the tract
herein described,
Thence N. 610 31' W, with the said southwest right -of -way line of Jester Street, a
distance of 218.27 feet to its intersection with the southeast right of way line
of McIver Street for a corner of the tract herein described;
Thence S. 280 29' 48" W, with the Southeast right -of -way line of said McIver Street,
a distance of 121.19 feet to a point for a corner of the tract herein described,

286.62 feet to a point for a corner of the tract herein described,
Thence N. 280 31' 30" E, a distance of 25.0 feet to the place of beginning.

AS FOLLOWS:
A portion of the alley in Block 17 Naval Center Subdivision as shown by map of
record in Volume 8 Page 18, Nueces County, Texas, Map Records more particularly
described by metes and bounds as follows:
'Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 1 of said Block 17 for a corner of the
tract herein described;
Thence S 280 29' W with the northwest boundary line of said lot 1 and lot 2,
block 17, a distance of 67.30 feet to a point for a corner of the tract herein
described;
Thence S 440 27' W across said alley, a distance of 72.71 feet to a point for a
corner of the tract herein described;
Thence N 280 29' E with the northwest boundary line of Naval Center Subdivision
a distance of 157.2 feet to the northwest corner of said Naval Center Subdivision
for a corner of the tract herein described;
Thence S 61 31' E with the northeast boundary line of said Naval Center Subdivision
a distance of 44.98 feet to a point for a corner of the tract herein described;
Thence S 440 27' W across said alley, a distance of 20.80 feet to a point in the
northeast boundary line of said Lot 1 for a corner of the tract herein described;
Thence N 610 31' W with the northeast boundary line of said Lot 1, a distance of
19.26 feet to the place of beginning. I
AND ALSO AS SHOWN BY THE MAPS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF. HOWEVER,
THE CLOSINGS OF THE AFORESAID PORTIONS OF STREETS AND THE ALLEY DESCRIBED
ARE SUBJECT TO RETENTION BY THE CITY OF AN EASEMENT TEN FEET (101) IN WIDTH
FOR THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THAT PORTION OF JESTER STREET HEREBY CLOSED, AND
SUBJECT TO THE FURTHER PROVISION THAT SHOULD FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS IN THE
AREA INDICATE THE ADVANTAGE OF CONNECTING DEAD END STREETS, THE DEPARTMENT
OF THE NAVY WILL BE REQUESTED TO GRANT AN EASEMENT OVER NAVY PROPERTY ADJACENT

SECTION 2. THE FACT THAT THE PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY
WOULD BE BETTER SERVED BY THE CLOSING OF A PORTION OF THE STREETS AND THE
ALLEY HEREINABOVE DESCRIBED CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE
PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDI-
NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION
AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED THAT SUCH PUBLIC EMERGENCY
AND IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER
RULE BE SUSPENDED, AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE
OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL
FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,
