HomeMy WebLinkAbout08685 RES - 12/06/1967A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE CITIZENRY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THEIR EFFORTS TO ERADI- CATE A DEPLORABLE SITUATION FROM OUR MIDST. WHEREAS, by diligent and dedicated effort on the part of our Police Department, a deplorable situation has been brought to light and we trust will soon become eradicated from our midst; and WHEREAS, this effort entailed personal sacrifice on the part of some employees, for beyond the scope of ordinary duty, and with the cooperation of many of our fine citizens, an insidious condition was exposed, and is in the process of being erased from our society; and WHEREAS, the victims of this circumstance are our hopes and aspira- tions of tomorrow and even though the continued cooperation of those vitally involved will cause pangs today, if permitted to continue, will be pains tomorrow: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That our support of the Police Department and law enforce- ment agencies to stamp our lawlessness in whatever form, be it narcotic, vice, murder, or of any other nature, is hereby pledged. SECTION 2. That recognition of efficient work is gratefully acknow- ledged and the continued vigilence and cooperation of our citizens is warranted and is earnestly solicited to the end that our beloved City will rank among the best, and our society, both young and old, will be spared of any misery and sorrow that are inevitable by our misdeeds today. 8685 CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (QVI DAY OF GD �,r� , 19jo TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS FOR THE REASONS SET FORTH IN THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE OF THE FOREGOING ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN- SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; I, THEREFORE, REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI- NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
