HomeMy WebLinkAbout08732 ORD - 01/17/19681/17/68 :E �J AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4168, ALSO KNOWN AS THE PLATTING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AS AMENDED, BY REPEALING SUBPARAGRAPH 5 OF PARAGRAPH "A" OF SECTION V; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI HAS BEEN EXTENDED SEVERAL MILES SINCE THE ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 4168 (ALSO KNOWN AS THE PLATTING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI), TO THE EFFECT THAT SOME TERRITORY NOW WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS AND WITHIN THE FIVE -MILE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTIONAL AREA, IS NOW BEING FURNISHED WATER BY A WATER DISTRICT OTHER THAN THE LOWER NUECES RIVER WATER SUPPLY DISTRICT OR THE CITY WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AND THE EXCEPTIONS PROVIDED IN SUBPARAGRAPH 5 OF PARAGRAPH "A" OF SECTION V SHOULD NO LONGER EXIST: Q' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT SUBPARAGRAPH 5 OF PARAGRAPH "A" OF SECTION V OF ORDINANCE NO. 4168 (ALSO KNOWN AS THE PLATTING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI) BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY REPEALED. SECTION Z. THE NECESSITY FOR IMMEDIATE EFFECT OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDI- NANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF SAID CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDI- NANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE /I DAY OF JANUARY, 1968.
