HomeMy WebLinkAbout08801 ORD - 03/20/1968• JKH:3 -19 -6d TEXAS: v AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A DEED TO ALL OF BLOCKS U, V, W, Y, Z AND 386, BROOKLYN OR RINCON ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, OF RECORD IN VOLUME A, PAGE 32, MAP RECORDS OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR USE AS A PUBLIC PARK, SAID CONVEYANCE TO BE FROM KING RANCH, INC., IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN THE AFORESAID DEED, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO ACCEPT, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, A DEED FROM KING RANCH, INC., CONVEYING TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ALL OF BLOCKS U, V, W, Y, Z AND 386, BROOKLYN OR RINCON ADDITION TO THE CITY OF • CORPUS CHRISTI, OF RECORD IN VOLUME A, PAGE 32, MAP RECORDS OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR USE AS A PUBLIC PARK, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE DEED, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF. SECTION 2. THE NECESSITY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PUBLIC PARKS FOR THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO IMMEDIATELY ACCEPT FOR PUBLIC PARK PURPOSES THE HEREINABOVE DESCRIBED PROPERTY CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERATIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY TO EXIST, AND HAVING REQUESTED THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGE, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE DAY OF MARCH, 1968. Z and 386, Brooklyn or Rincon Addition to the City of Corpus Christi of record in Volume A, page 32, Map Records of Nueces County, Texas, subject to the condition that if a public park is not established thereon within five (5) years and such park named in honor of Mrs. Henrietta M. King, then the property will revert to King Ranch, Inc., and the President, Robert J. Kleberg, Jr., is authorized to execute an appropriate deed carrying out this resolution." J.
