HomeMy WebLinkAbout08840 ORD - 04/17/1968JH:Y -17-68 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE MANSHEIM COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUC- TION OF SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS IN SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE, TULOSO CIRCLE AND GREENWOOD DRIVE, PROJECT NO. 250- 67 -65; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 250 SANITARY SEWER BOND FUND THE SUM OF 07,000, OF WHICH AMOUNT $143 585.48 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CON- TRACT, AND $3,1414.52 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT THE CITY MANAGER BE, AND HE IS HEREBY, AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE MANSHEIM COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS ON SOUTH PADRE ISLAND DRIVE NEAR MOOSE LODGE AND MCBRIDE STABLES, IN TULOSO CIRCLE AT GULLY'S TRAILER PARK, AND ON GREENWOOD DRIVE, WEST POINT ROAD TO KAREN DRIVE, SAID INSTALLATION TO CONSIST OF 14955 FEET OF 8" AND 10° V.C. PIPE AND APPURTENANCES, DESIGNATED AS PROJECT No. 250- 67 -65, SAID CONSTRUCTION BEING MORE FULLY SET OUT IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY, ALL OF WHICH ARE MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE, AND ACCORDING TO THE BID OF THE MANSHEIM COMPANY OPENED ON THE IOTH DAY OF APRIL, 1968, THE SAID BID OF THE MANSHEIM COMPANY BEING THE LOWEST AND MOST ADVANTAGEOUS TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 2. THERE IS HEREBY APPROPRIATED OUT OF NO. 250 SANITARY SEWER BOND FUND THE SUM OF $47,0001 OF WHICH AMOUNT $143,585.148 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, AND $3,44.52 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES. SECTION 3. THE NECESSITY TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION OF THE AFORE- SAID CONTRACT AND THE APPROPRIATION OF THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO PROVIDE SEWER SERVICE FOR AREAS NOT NOW SERVED CREATES A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND AN IMPERA- TIVE PUBLIC NECESSITY REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF THE CHARTER RULE THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS 5840 r ' INTRODUCTION AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE SEVERAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCILS AND THE MAYOR HAVING DECLARED i THAT SUCH EMERGENCY AND NECESSITY EXISTS HAVING REQUESTED THAT SUCH CHARTER RULE BE SUSPENDED AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE OF ITS INTRODUCTION AND TAKE EFFECT AND BE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT FROM AND AFTER ITS PASSAGES IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, THIS THE DAY OF APRILS 1968.
